Large presses

The Johnson Progress range of large filter presses has plate pack sizes 800, 915, 1000, 1200, 1300, 1500 and 1500/2000. All plate sizes are available for use in sidebar or overhead slung plate suspension designs except for the 800mm square plate size, which is only available in the sidebar framework, and the 915mm square plate size is only available in the overhead slung framework.

To reduce the need for human resources in process plants and to simplify operations, automation has been implemented to mechanise the operational sequence of filter presses equipped with these larger plate sizes. Both overhead slung and sidebar filter presses can be fully mechanised, enabling automatic functions such as closing the plates together, sealing the filter press at a predetermined pressure, and moving each plate individually for cake discharge. This mechanisation also controls movement to minimise filter cloth wear caused by impact and includes a safety system that disconnects electric power if an operator approaches the filter press while the plate transfer or closing mechanisms are in operation.

The advancement of mechanization allows for single-person operation of filter presses while maintaining effective operational efficiency.
